I'm not crying, I'm just cold.
Acrylic Paint, graphite, and Ink on Paper
"I'm not crying, I'm just cold" is a series that explores the complex relationship between emotional pain and a sense of disconnection, using blue stains in the shape of drops or tears, scattered chaotically across the space. These stains, of various sizes, appear as though they are floating in a space of contained distress. The larger drops are centered, while the smaller ones are scattered around, symbolizing repressed tears or contained emotions.
Along these stains, black, labyrinthine, scar-like lines intertwine indirectly, connecting the drops in a winding path. Unlike in other works, these lines are darker and more aggressive, as if pain and frustration have become visible scars, but imperfect ones, arising from contained anger. The blue stains, though central, are bordered by quick, messy lines, reflecting internal agitation that cannot be contained. The piece conveys the struggle between external calm and internal chaos, a conflict where emotions are trapped, trying to find a place to be released, but still unable to express themselves fully.
The series reflects that moment when one doesn’t cry out of sadness, but from a deep sense of inner cold, where pain is hidden behind a fog of frustration and confusion, unable to be fully liberated.
