Freshwater Maps
Acrylic Paint and Graphite on Paper
"Freshwater Maps" is a series that reflects the feeling of being lost in the chaos of the urban environment, searching for a connection in a space that feels overwhelming and full of obstacles. The blue stains remain a constant, but this time they are bordered with ochre, orange, and yellow tones, like the shores of lakes in a city, fragments of calm in an otherwise overwhelming setting. These stains seem to represent places of refuge, but they are diffuse and fleeting, almost unreachable, like a search for peace that gets lost amidst the demands of daily life.
The lines, often aggressive and scribbled, evoke the energy of a child who, unable to express themselves otherwise, draws with force on the paper. These are strokes that desperately seek an outlet but feel trapped, representing failed attempts at connection. This chaotic linework symbolizes frustration and confusion, as if everything is on the verge of collapsing, yet there is still a search for a path.
Amidst all of this, dark golden stains appear, almost hidden within the chaos, like small treasures that are hard to find or give attention to. These dark golden marks represent moments of clarity or beauty that fade quickly, like fleeting glimpses of hope that are difficult to hold onto amidst the turmoil. The series is a reflection on the struggle to find peace and meaning while everything seems to sink in a constant agitation.
