Fishing the Soul
Installation Art
“Fishing The Soul” encapsulates a profound metaphorical narrative that delves into the realms of overfishing
and overconsumption.
A fishing rod stretches a white canvas that hangs delicately on the wall.
The taut fabric transmits a palpable sensation of tension, balance and fragility at the same time.
This tension is not merely physical, but serves as a poignant reflection of the precarious balance
that exists within our ecosystems and our societies.
The fishing rod extends its reach into the void, as if to capture something intangible.
Yet, in its relentless pursuit, it also serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of our
insatiable desire to consume, to extract without regard for the delicate complexities of the natural
world or personal expression.
The work contemplates the parallels between the depletion of our oceans and the depletion of our artistic
resources. Just as overfishing threatens the very balance of marine ecosystems, the relentless
commodification and exploitation of art also threatens to diminish its intrinsic value and integrity.
